Frankincense at its best: Boswellia serrata (Indian frankincense) is a popular natural substance with a proven effect on inflammations. Frankincense is the resin of the frankincense tree, which mainly comes from India, Africa and Arabia.
Our boswellia product combines a liposomal full spectrum boswellia complex with a 65% boswellia serrata extract. The liposomal boswellia complex contains all boswellic acids in the naturally occurring ratio. These are present as liposomes, i.e. embedded in a phospholipid double layer, and can thus be optimally absorbed by the body. The additional Boswellia serrata extract is characterised by a high content of standardised boswellic acids, namely 65 %.
Frankincense
The resin of the incense tree is probably familiar to you first and foremost from the church. Here it is smoked in masses and religious ceremonies and is said to be a sign of purification, reverence and the presence of God. Furthermore, incense is said to dispel negative energies and promote concentration.
For centuries, frankincense has also been traditionally used as a remedy, for example for inflammations or for wound healing in Indian Ayurveda. To extract frankincense, the bark of the frankincense tree is scratched so that the resin can drip out and dry for harvesting. The colour of the dried frankincense drops or clumps ranges from candy-sugar brown to black, depending on the harvest. The resin is then used to make the extract that is used in food supplements.
What is the function of phospholipids?
Phospholipids are phosphorus-containing fats that are, for example, the main component of membranes in the body, i.e. the outer shells of cells and cell organelles. There they are present as a double layer, also called a double membrane.
Phospholipids are also often used to improve the absorption of active substances into the cells, i.e. through the cell membrane - in short: to increase bioavailability. The phospholipids enclose the active substance like a kind of "mini-cell", which is then called a liposome. This liposome can then fuse directly with the cell membrane and release the active substance into the cell. In this way, the substances are much better absorbed. This is where the term "liposomal" comes from, which you have surely heard before and now you know its exact meaning.
