Magnesium deficiency - better prevention

Magnesium is an essential mineral and is known to support muscle function and energy metabolism. Magnesium also promotes healthy protein synthesis, cell division and the maintenance of healthy bones and teeth.

As our body cannot produce the mineral itself, magnesium must be ingested through food. A sufficient supply is valuable for supporting the healthy functioning of the nervous system and the psyche as well as for reducing tiredness and fatigue and thus also for health and well-being. Athletes also benefit from magnesium, as it contributes to healthy muscle function and supports regeneration - even after physical exertion. Where is magnesium found and how much magnesium a day? 

An increased need for magnesium can occur in different phases of life, for example during pregnancy and breastfeeding, during periods of intensive sport or chronic stress. Older people also often have a higher requirement as their absorption capacity decreases. To prevent a magnesium deficiency, magnesium should be taken in regularly through food, such as green vegetables, seeds, nuts, dark chocolate or wholegrain products. 

However, magnesium is often not present in sufficient quantities in many foods or the individual requirement is higher. Supplementing with a magnesium preparation can then be useful.

Magnesium as a dietary supplement is available in various forms - including magnesium oxide. This form of magnesium is often categorized as not very recommendable and effective in terms of its solubility and ability to be absorbed in the intestine. Our Pro Magnesium, however, contains a particularly high quality, highly active magnesium oxide and differs significantly from conventional forms:

Gentle processing
The magnesium oxide in Pro Magnesium is baked at a low temperature. This creates a kind of fluffy structure with a large surface area, which significantly improves its solubility in the intestine. Conventional magnesium oxide is often baked at very high temperatures, which reduces the surface area and thus solubility.

Optimised solubility via (stomach) acid
The magnesium oxide we use reacts effectively with stomach acid and is converted into magnesium ions, which are then easily absorbed in the intestine.

Due to its special processing and optimised reaction with the acid, magnesium oxide is described as "highly active". In Pro Magnesium, it is uniquely combined with the suitably selected compound magnesium -L-lactate, which is an organic compound.
