Pro Omega Ultra
Natural Omega-3 and Omega-7 from Norwegian cod liver oil: Essential fatty acids are vital fatty acids that the organism cannot produce itself and must obtain from food. For example, our heart, brain and vision benefit from them. Pro Omega Ultra supplies the body with high-quality marine fatty acids from Norwegian cod liver oil. The natural fatty acid complex is rich in the essential omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA and also provides other valuable fatty acids, especially the important omega-7 palmitoleic acid.
Omega fatty acids in natural triglyceride form
Fish contain fatty acids in natural form as triglycerides. These can be broken down quickly and efficiently in the human intestine after consumption and are therefore highly bioavailable. Most fish oil products contain fatty acids in synthetic form - as ethyl esters (EE). This artificial esterification allows for higher omega-3 concentrations, but is not as bioavailable as the triglycerides. All fatty acids in Pro Omega Ultra are in their natural triglyceride (TG) form.
All-round protection against oxidation
Polyunsaturated fatty acids are particularly susceptible to oxidation due to the double bonds in their molecules; they spoil easily due to heat, light and oxygen. To ensure storage life and stability, the fatty acids in Pro Omega Ultra are therefore specially protected:
- Oxygen free processing: The cod livers are processed freshly caught and the oil itself is bottled in state-of-the-art facilities under a nitrogen atmosphere. This means that the oxidation level is already extremely low during production.
- Vitamin E as a natural protector: As a protective shield for the fatty acids, the highly effective lipid antioxidant vitamin E with all eight natural forms (4 tocopherols, 4 tocotrienols) is added in Pro Omega Ultra.
- Monthly dose in two bottles: To ensure that Pro Omega Ultra is only exposed to atmospheric oxygen for the shortest possible time after opening, we supply the monthly dose in two 150 ml bottles instead of one 300 ml bottle. In the amber glass bottles, the oil is additionally protected from light oxidation.
Fact Sheet - Omega-3 fatty acids
Dietary fats consist mainly of so-called triglycerides, which contain three fatty acids. The three fatty acids can be different - saturated, monounsaturated or polyunsaturated. No natural fat contains only one type of fatty acid. However, the respective proportions differ considerably.
Only two fatty acids are essential for humans:
- The omega-3 fatty acid alpha-linolenic acid (ALA)
- The omega-6 fatty acid linoleic acid (LA)
Both are polyunsaturated fatty acids. Using alpha linolenic acid, the body can form all the necessary Omega-3 fatty acids itself – these are mainly DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid). However, the synthesis rate is so low that DHA and EPA are also regarded as essential.
Among other things, linoleic acid is the basis for the synthesis of the Omega-6 fatty acid arachidonic acid, which the body needs in sufficient, but not excessive amounts in order to be able to trigger necessary inflammatory reactions.
Good sources of omega-3 fatty acids
Alpha linolenic acid is a vegetable Omega-3 fatty acid, primarily found in nuts and in vegetable oils such as linseed, hemp and walnut oil.
By contrast, the main source of DHA and EPA is fish and seafood, especially fat-rich cold-water fish.
A high concentration of linoleic acid or Omega-6 is to be found, for example, in thistle, sunflower and corn oil as well as in cereals, meat and dairy products.
What does the body need DHA and EPA for?
Omega-3 fatty acids are present in all cell membranes. DHA and EPA are particularly important for the cardiovascular system, the development of the brain and for vision. DHA is the primary structural fat in the brain and the central nervous system. EPA is the base material for eicosanoids – hormone-like neurotransmitters that are involved in the regulation of numerous body functions.
Omega-3 and Omega-6
Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids have opposite functions in the body. The organism requires a proper balance of both. There is often an overabundance of Omega-6 fatty acids in food. The ideal ratio of Omega-6/3 fatty acids is considered to be between 1:1 and 4:1. However, in most industrialised countries, the actual ratio is between 20:1 and 30:1.
Health-related statements:
Omega-3 fatty acids
- EPA and DHA contribute to healthy heart function with a daily intake of 250 mg or more.
- DHA contributes to the maintenance of healthy brain function and vision, with a daily intake of 250 mg or more.
- Daily intake of 200 mg DHA by the mother - in addition to the recommended daily intake for adults (250 mg DHA and EPA) - contributes to normal eye and brain development in the fetus and breastfed infant.
- Daily intake of 100 mg DHA contributes to the normal development of vision in infants up to 12 months of age.
Vitamin E
- protects the cells from oxidative stress.

- RECOMMENDED INTAKE: Please take 10 ml daily (corresponds to approx. one tablespoon) with a meal. The oil can be taken pure or stirred into dishes. Do not mix into hot dishes, as high temperatures destroy the unsaturated fatty acids. Do not exceed the recommended daily intake.
- Notes: Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a balanced and varied diet and a healthy lifestyle. Store in a cool, dry place away from light. Keep out of the reach of children.
- Special Note: Astaxanthin-rich oleoresin from the alga Haematococcus pluvialis is not suitable for infants and young children under 3 years of age. The maximum daily intake of astaxanthin should not exceed 8 mg.
